Blog #4 Graphic (1)

It’s amazing how often we run around during the course of our day and don’t stop to catch our breath. We are so programmed to be on the “GO MODE” all the time and forget to slow down. We need to stop, drop and catch our breath AMERICA!

The act of slowing down for even just 2 minutes, sit down, close your eyes and catch your breath is so cleansing to the soul. I learned my lesson the hard way of not slowing down. I allowed stress and overwhelm to take residence in my life and it wasn’t pretty. My sleep patterns were erratic, I was having episodes of heart palpitations, random headaches. After a while, I was like “What the heck is going on with my body’?

Take a breath and just enjoy your life”

I had to take a step back to assess my lifestyle and really figure what I was doing wrong. BAM! I realized I was doing TOO MUCH and not slowing! I was not allowing myself to take breaks during my crazy ass day and catch my breath. I started to slowly incorporate meditation in the morning to get in a very relaxed state of mind. I would just wake up go downstairs to my living room and sit on my floor, legs crossed, eyes closed, placing my hands on my knees in a position of receiving and just focused on my breath. I concentrated on the inhalation and exhalation of my breath. And within minutes CALM would settle in and I was feeling blissful. I often would repeat a simple affirmation like “All is well” or “I am Safe” to quiet the monkey chatter in my head. Yes, I know meditation is not easy. I totally get it, but you can create a meditation practice of your OWN. By simply sitting quietly for a few minutes. Or starting a gratitude journal and writing 5 things you are grateful for that day. Being in that space of gratitude also allows your body to decompress from stress and allows you to feel relaxed. Or sit with your feet planted on the ground and put your hand over your heart and just focus on your breath for a few minutes. Whatever works for you, listen to soft loving music, light a candle, lie down with your hands in the position of receiving and just chill out! Your body will thank you.

“Alone time is when I distance myself from the voices of the world so I can hear my own.” ~ Oprah Winfrey

Busy at work and you think you don’t have time for a break? Uhm, excuse me ladies, go to the bathroom for 2 minutes. That’s right, take a BATHROOM break girls and go take a few deep cleansing breathes. Especially if you are stressed, your boss is being very demanding, your deadlines are driving you nuts. STOP – DROP – & BREATH! It’s that simple my friends.

Don’t let your crazy lifestyle drive you to create bad health patterns that are not necessary. It’s ok, to take that break and slow down several times a day. We can not possibly be on DEMAND 24/7. It’s impossible. We are NOT machines, we are human beings not DirectTV. (Insert Giggles)

So if this blog has served you well and you actually slowed down enough to read this, close your eyes, place your hand over your heart and take 2 deep breathes. Breathe in peace and let go of stress. Breathe in calm and let go of chaos. Now take a bow and pat yourself on the back, you did it. Was that so hard to do? I don’t think so.

Take good care my peeps! Remember, STOP – DROP & BREATH. Pass it on, save a life America! lol 🙂

“My meditation is simple. It does not require any complex practices. It is simple. It is singing. It is dancing. It is sitting quietly.” ~ Osho
